Pumpkin Time

This past Sunday afternoon we finally took Montgomery and Bennett to the pumpkin patch over at AHUMC. I felt like I needed to get past Montgomery's bday before I could really focus on Halloween and the fact that it's Fall. I tried to get "the shot" of Montgomery and Bennett together but that just didn't happen. Also as I look back at the pictures I took, Montgomery & Bennett look so big. Bennett is starting to look less like a baby and more like a little girl and in some of the pictures I took of Montgomery, he looks 10. How does that happen? Clock please slow down!!!!!!

Dog Day

Yesterday was Montgomery's big dog day party. First, we headed out to Stockdale in the morning with Pita. Montgomery picked Shilee after giving it a lot of thought. There were three black females to pick from and the one he decided on seems to be the most outgoing. She's also precious - only 5 weeks old. She'll get to come home in three more weeks.
Then later in the day, we turned our backyard into party zone with a moonbounce and all. Somehow, I did not take one single picture of the kids jumping or one of Montgomery with his grandmothers or even one as a family. How does that happen? Regardless, we had a great time and we are so blessed to have the friends and family that we have. Montgomery is so excited to be 5 and to have gotten SO many wonderful presents. Thanks so much to everyone!!! Hope you all had as much fun as we did.

Cousins!
Cookie decorating!

More sugar please! Here's the dogbone cake!

And finally presents!

That sad face!

Doesn't this picture just break your heart?!!! Bennett has become very dramatic lately. Somtimes it's hilarious, but sometimes I feel so sorry for her because I know she doesn't have words yet and so she can go from zero to sixty in no time flat. I just could not resist taking this picture of her being so pitiful. Poor thing.

Montgomery's 5th birthday

First, let me say that today is very bittersweet for me. I am so excited for Montgomery to have turned 5 years old today, but I have no idea how we got HERE. He's so big and so smart and I love him SO MUCH that my heart actually hurts sometimes. Montgomery loves school, he loves his new friends, and he loves knowing it ALL!! Since his actual birthday fell on a school day, I took the whole day off and spent most of it with him. Chad and I went to chapel with him. I stayed until snack time. Montgomery decided to take Shipley's glazed donuts and his favorite CapriSun Coolers. Later I met him back at his school for lunch. It was so neat because Mr. Webster gathered a group of boys around Montgomery and they sang happy birthday to him. Montgomery never stopped eating his lunch!!! Then that afternoon we had the second party of the day at the bowling alley. Twenty five of his classmates showed up to bowl and they had a blast!!!! The parents had to be very hands on at the party, but I think everyone had lots of fun. I'd recommend it. Once we finally got home that night, we opened up his very cool birthday presents from his friends. They were all super generous. His favorites were a glow in the dark race track and the two air guns - one shoots out yellow balls & one shoots out marshmallows! All in all it was a great 5th birthday for Montgomery. We are looking forward to Saturday for his third party to celebrate with our family and close friends!

I'm a slacker

Since it has been a million years since I last posted, I thought I would just upload a few of my favorite photos of Montgomery and Bennett since school started. And one of me with my new Godson!
Here's Bennett on her way to school carrying her new lunch box. She calls it "backpack".

Here's Montgomery playing soccer at SAA. The season was only 3 weeks, but he had fun and I think he'll be set for Spring ball.

We took Bennett and Montgomery to ride the train and then for a walk around the park. We found this cool bridge and she posed for me while I took a million pictures of her.

I'm not sure how much longer he's going to love trains, but it seems like this this trip was pretty great! Suckers and trains - two of his favorite things!

Jack Steele Brewer was born on October 9, 2008! He is a beautiful and healthy baby boy! Meredith, Andrew, and Paige are super excited to have him join their wonderful family. When I went to see Jack on his birth-day at the hospital, Meredith and Andrew surprised me by asking Chad and I to be Jack's Godparents. I was speechless. We of course accepted and feel humbled. Thank you to Andrew and Meredith! We love you guys so much!!! Welcome Baby Jack!!!!

1st DAY OF SCHOOL

Well, last week both Montgomery and Bennett had their first day of school. Montgomery's day began bright and early at 6:40AM and with the whole family loaded into the car we drove him to San Antonio Academy. It was a very bitter sweet moment for me because I have wanted this day since before Montgomery was born. It seemed so silly when he was only 10 days old to mail in his application and fee to SAA, but as he jumped out of the car in his sweet "uniform" and onto his classroom, my heart had sort of an out of body experience. I know that this is the best place in the whole world for him to grow and learn.

Bennett was so excited to be going pretty much anywhere that dropping her off on the first day did not produce the tears from her that I thought it would - but each day after that got worse and worse for her. So much so that Chad and I have opted to take her only 3 days a week instead of 5. She just seems sooo much smaller than Montgomery was when he started school. Thankfully Lupita is still with us and so it's not a big deal for Bennett not to go everyday. Bennett does seem to like playing outside and of course she enjoys the music time.

All in all it was a good first week of school for my children. I can only imagine all that they are going to learn during the next 9 months!!! I sure hope everyone else is doing great with this adjustment.

Splish Splash my children are taking a bath

I'm not sure if anyone frequently reads my blog or not, but in case you check it you'll have noticed that it's been almost 3 weeks since I last posted. Going back to work as really kicked my booty. From waking up at 5AM to workout, then heading to work around 7:15 and not leaving until almost 5PM and then spending as much quality time as possible with Bennett & Montgomery until they go to sleep, I'm beat! Most nights I'm in bed asleep by 9PM. My days are fast becoming tedious. Thus, again my desperation to come up with another plan for next year. To my dear friend Dawn, thanks SO much for your help in looking at my transcript to see if you can get me on anywhere to teach at one of the community colleges. With a Masters in Educational Psychology, I think my options are going to be limited. But it's worth a shot to see what's out there. If anyone has an idea, feel free to let me know.

As for Montgomery & Bennett they don't seem to have missed a beat. They spend lots of time playing together with Nana while Chad & I are at work. I do love that they've had this summer to really bond, especially since in just another week they will both start school! Here are a few pictures of them playing around in the bath tub. It's rare that Montgomery will join Bennett in the tub, but when he does, it's pure excitement. Lots of splashes and lots of squealing! (It also makes my heart melt that for the most part, they are really sweet to each other, lots of hugs and kisses.)
